HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR OUR ANNUAL AFTERNOON OF FUN, GAMES & FOOD KNOWN AS OUR HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL:  OCTOBER 30, FRIDAY.  4:40 – 7:00.

An evening of family fun on the courtyard has been planned for Halloween, Friday, October 30th.  The 9th Annual Halloween Carnival will be a night to play with the children as they parade in their Halloween costumes.  Children from infants to 8 years of age will be invited to try their skill and luck to win prizes at carnival games.  The parade will kick off the Carnival at 4:30 p.m.

You and your child may participate in any or all of the events on the courtyard by purchasing a hand stamp for $5.00.  This will enable your child to play unlimited games for the evening.  You may pre-pay in the Office any day prior to the Halloween Carnival.    Or, you can purchase your hand stamping that night after the parade.  All pre-paid “hands” will be stamp at the Carnival.  Food prices will be announced as we get closer to Halloween.

Remember the fun you had over the years at our Carnival!? Some parents add to the fun by coming in costume.  Others added to the fun by helping with the games.  Mark your calendar now, and plan to be here!

We will need help with decorating, games and serving food.  Sign-up lists will be going up on classroom doors mid-way through the month.  Come help out and have some fun.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

INFANT

October is the month for ghosts and goblins to come out.  During the month of October, we will celebrate Columbus Day, National Bosses Day and Halloween.  We will have a Halloween Carnival.  Signs will be posted with information on it.  Now let us see what our little ghosts and goblins are up to:  Zoe has mastered crawling.  Olivia and Bella conduct board meetings at the table.  They are trying to decide on who gets what toy.  They both want the same toy (women).

Luke and his Father did some male bonding while his Mother was out of town.  He is also standing alone.   Go Luke!  Christopher and Elmo are friends.  When Elmo talks, Christopher laughs.  Peter is very busy.  He is all over the room.  He  cruises over to the Toddler Room in the mornings.

Jacob is sitting up on his own and loving it.  He can see what is going on.  He reaches for toys.  Ethan is rolling and getting more Tummy Time.  Lucia has two babies.  She checks on them often.  She is calling them “BEBE.”  Such a good little Mommy.

Our Infants are very busy exploring, dancing and looking forward to being read to.  Have a safe Halloween.

See you next month.

INFANT II

Good-bye September and good-bye Summer season.

October marks its beginning along with Fall – a season full of beauty.  It offers the splendor of leaves changing colors and a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy outdoor activities with the family.  During this month, we will be celebrating Columbus Day and Halloween.  We hope everybody has an exciting and safe Halloween.

Giancarlo is always happy.  He shares his big smile with everyone.  Charley loves being outside.  Isabella likes to look and discover herself in the mirror.

Reece is a big girl.  She is growing pretty quickly.  She loves to play in the Activity Area.  During the month of September, Reece's sister was born.  Congratulations to the Harris family.

We hope everyone has a wonderful month of October.

Sincerely,

Leo

TODDLERS

Greetings to all.  My name is Valorie.  I am working in

the Toddlers classroom.  During my time here, I have learned so much.  While working in various classrooms, I have met and made many friends, with children, teachers and parents.  This move Is taking some getting used to.  I am very appreciative  to everyone who has taken time out to express their kindness.  Thank you.

During the month of September we had some rain, but never-the-less, we stayed busy reading stories and singing songs.

During the month of October we will be celebrating Halloween with our carnival, which promises to be fun for everyone.  There will be games and yummy treats.  Now let us see what our little ones have been up to:

Declan gets a thumbs up when he helps at cleaning the toys.  Emma is still taking her time walking. We are giving her lots of encouragement.  Amanda does amazing art projects.

Jacob gets lots of exercise climbing and rolling around in the Cozy Area.  TJ is our sports man.  When it comes to playing with a ball, he is developing his motor skills very well.  Reece has an exceptional time with the flash cards.

Evelyn is our singer.  Her favorite song is Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.  Tripp is our cowboy who rides the horsey.

Trevor and Julia get so excited when going on a wagon ride.  Stella is a big girl now.  She is sleeping on her own cot.

Well that is all the news for now.  See you next month.

Valorie

PRE-SCOOTER

We are back with another tale to tell about our Pre-Scooters.  Let's get ready for story time as we sit quietly and listen to what our Pre-Scooters have been up to this month.

This month we talked about Friends, Families and Fall.  We would like to thank all of the parents for their involvement in their children's “Family Book Project.”  You have done a great job.

So the story begins like this. . . . We have noticed how Bridget and Yannick have become good friends.  Almost every word that comes out of Bridget's mouth is “Yannick.  Yannick.”  Marlene was outside with the children and while they were playing outside, when she saw Bridget climbing up the outdoor steps.  Bridget stopped and called out “Yannick.”  Then Yannick walked up to her.  There was an airplane flying up in the sky at that time.  Yannick started pointing up in the sky.  Then, of course, Bridget did also.

Eve was sitting alone at the playhouse table.  Jenna walked up to her and sat right next to her.  A little while later, Indeah walked up to them and started laughing and pointing.  Then they all began to  point and laugh.  When Shaline noticed it, she walked up to them and began to talk about friends.

During Story time, Shaline began to read the children's Family Books to the class.  At this particular moment it was Izaac's book that was being read.   Izaac  was on her lap.  Izaac began to help Shaline read his book.  As Shaline turned the pages, Izaac shouted out, “Mommy.”  it was a family picture.  As Shaline pointed to the faces in the picture, Izaac called out, “Mommy, Daddy, Izaac and 'Deah'”  (Izaac's sister).

When it was Declan's turn he pointed and smiled.  On the page was their family pet, Declan whispered, “Scout” which happens to be his pet dog.

Every morning on arrival, Alissa will run and give Jenna the biggest hug.  Whenever Cooper sees his teachers he will run up to them and give them the biggest hug.  When Alexander and Cooper go outdoors to play on the playground it is amazing how they will climb, run, slide and even push the toys once they get to them.

Yazmin did an outdoor activity for Fall with the children.  Brock, Alex, Mia, Elijah, Morgan, Nicolas and Alissa helped her pick out leaves from outside.  Yazmin helped the children paste the leaves onto our class tree.  Later Yazmin read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  The children were entranced.

Marlene took Morgan, Mia, Eve, Nicolas, Yannick, Bridget, Declan and Elijah and sang a song to them while outdoors.  They sat so quietly as they listened to the melody of the song Los Pollitos – Little Chickens.

Elijah is saying more and more words each day.  He has this thing that whenever he eats and the music is on he will bounce up and down.  Whenever he is thirsty or wants water, he will say “Agua.”

Nicholas and Brock will play with the indoor truck, animals and block toys.  Nicolas could actually play with a push toy and will go on and on and push it to his destination.  It is amazing how both Brock and Nicolas are trying to use their words to express what they want or what they are trying to say.

During wagon rides, Morgan will always say, “Mommy to bye-bye.  Daddy go bye-bye”  and “tee-tee go bye-bye.  Mia will point and say “Mommy” whenever she hears Morgan say Mommy.

I hope you enjoyed this story.  Until next time this is the Pre-Scooters saying good-bye for now.

Yazmin, Shaline & Marlene

SCOOTERS

This September has been a Scooterrific month.  We did a lot of group activities.  We made a Friendship tree.  We made happy feeling paintings.  We also did a lot of individual activities such as my shiny painting, a me collage, feeling faces, mirror me, Autumn leaves, and an Autumn Leaf Book.

Our parent participation was great in helping to complete our My Family Books.  You parents did a terrific, scooterrific job.  Thank you for following through with your child.

Happy Birthday to Anna, Connor and Marcelo who celebrated birthdays in September.  Sidney, Cannon and Savannah are more verbal and participating more at the learning table and story time.  Jack, Francisco, Adam, Alberto, Logan and Dylan are big fans of the Block area, Nature Walks and being outdoors.  They perform well in those Centers.

Marella and Sophia are fans of the Art Center and manipulative's.  Our Scooters are wonderful, and they all do a very good job on a daily basis.

This up-coming October our class will be doing wonderful activities on school safety, fire safety, Spanish heritage and Halloween.  We are looking forward to having a Scooterrific time as we teachers, Scooters and parents continue working together.

‘Till next month, have a Scooterrific month.

Joelle and Rita

EXPLORERS

Hello everyone.  We hope everything is fine with all of you.  The month of September was a month full of excitement for the children as well as for the teachers.  During this month, we explored the themes of All About Me, Feelings, Family and Friendship.  This brought us closer together as the Explorers family.  Carmen, Jessica and Pilar decided to work together as a group giving the children the chance to interact with each other at all times and not being limited to play with their assigned group of seven.  So far everything is working out so well.  We see many friendships getting stronger and new ones forming.  We have made many art projects as a group like the “Circle of Friends” made with all our hand prints.  Another one we made was the “We Are Unique” banner with hand prints and footprints from all of us.  It has been a lot of fun.

Now let me tell you what the Explorers have been up to lately.  Sean's favorite activity this month has been Circle Time.  He laughs, sings songs and retells stories out loud.  He knows many stories by heart now.  Madelyn has been spending lots of time in our Family Center dressing up as a princess and wearing high heels.  Marlena has figured out a way to reach the monkey bars.  She climbs on top of a bucket, and she is ready to go.  (Good way to solve a problem.)

Kai likes to use the lawn mower around the courtyard.  When he gets tired he stops by the water fountain to get a drink.  He keeps our grass nice and beautiful, don't you think?  Liam and Dustin like to play together inside the sandbox.  They pretend to cook and make sandcastles.  Another chef who likes to cook is Jacob.  He makes delicious lunches for his teachers, like smoked salmon and strawberry shortcake.  Let me tell you, we get so hungry when he tells us all the yummy food he is making for us.

Leilani likes playing the game called “Show Me Your Feelings.”  We toss a bean bag to every child during Circle Time, and they have to show us a feeling.  Leilani makes a very good angry face.  It took her a while to get back to a happy face after that.  Caitlin participates in Story Time so well.  She is the first one to sit in the Circle to listen to the story.  She answers questions and predicts what is going to happen next.

Stefania and Kimberly like to build huge towers of wooden blocks when they are playing in the Block Area.  Cooper and  Peter like to play “Red Light, Green Light” with all their friends.

Yva has been using her imagination a lot.  One day she had a game going on with Gemma, Elena, Emily and Stephanie.  They were all running from one side of the courtyard to the other.  I asked them what they were looking for and, to my surprise, they were looking for Yva and Gemma's lost dogs.  Elena said she was a secret agent who was helping out, but they had to call the firefighters to get the dogs from up a tree.  (Isn't this funny?)

Reese and Eric like to play “Duck, Duck, Goose” when we are on the courtyard.  It is so funny seeing them playing Explorer's style.  They run opposite sides and sit wherever they want to sit, but they all have a great time.

Welcome to our new friend Sebastian.   He was very happy to make new friends.  He enjoys playing outside a lot.

Next month we will be talking about Fire Safety, Firefighters and Signs and Symbols.  We will be having lots  and lots of fun.

See you next month.

Carmen, Pilar and Jessica

BLOOMERS

The Fall has finally begun.  We still have not seen or felt the change in weather.  I am sure it is on its way.  This month (September) we have been focusing a lot on subtraction and counting.  Conlon counts the tiles outside the bathroom while he waits for his turn.  George and Morgan are very proficient at subtraction.  They hardly need to use fingers or counters.  Nishka is the first to guess what day of the week it is.  She smiles every time she gets it right, and we sing the song.

Ivan, Taylor and Maximo are officially potty trained.  They have been doing such a great job of using the toilet and saying when they need to go.  Julian's favorite part of the day is Circle time.  He likes to dance and listen to the “following directions” CD.  He participates very well and gets the other children excited to read and sing songs.

Victoria is the “teachers helper.”  She takes on the teacher role with other children and helps them follow directions.  She claps her hands when I say “Imagination Land” and closes her eyes.  Mila's favorite center is the Art Center.  She spends her days making beautiful pictures for her family.  She has taught the class that “zetuela” means star in French.

For October, we will be doing many Halloween and Fall-related activities.  This group really enjoys a scary story named “In A Dark, Dark Wood.”  We turn the lights off and they hug one another in the excitement.  We will also be focusing on literacy and  imaginations.  More and more  kids let their loose their imaginations due to all the innovative toys on the market.  I  want your kids to have a magical childhood and one that is filled with creativity and possibility.

FANTASTICS

Hello Fall.  We are so glad to see the Summer end.  (Way too hot!)  We hope that it is really starting to  cool off soon.  We will be discussing the Fall season.  We will just make believe we are up north seeing the leaves change colors.

We have started to explore the alphabet and letter sounds.  We have been working on positional words like:  top, bottom, under, over, behind  and in front of.  While playing obstacle course Miranda giggles every time she gets to crawl on her tummy on the floor in the obstacle course.  Kathryn pushes off the chair with all her strength as she “flies through the air” as we call it while holding Arleen's hand.

Gabriel has been playing with the large truck.  He puts all the people in it.  He takes them to the zoo.  Then he takes them home.  Sometimes he takes the animals on a ride.  James has been building with the Mobilos building set.  He is making very long fire engines and trucks.

Jayden has been taking the cars from the Block Area and pushing them around the rug in the Library Area.  It has a city printed on it.  Isaac, Sofia and Landyn have been dancing a lot.  They dance the Freeze Dance.  Arleen puts on the music, so they can dance: then she turns it it off.  They have to stay frozen until the music starts again.  If they move they have to stop dancing.

Samantha and Gabriella have been working in the Art Area.  They have been working with the markers, stencils and drawing with the rulers.  They always ask for colored construction paper.

Jakk and Lexia enjoyed making Fall trees using their arms and fingers.  They talked about how leaves change colors.

Anthony and James are busy playing their Bingo game.  They love it, especially when they are close to winning.

Christopher and John enjoy singing the song “Un Elefante, One Elephant” in Spanish.  They know it very well.

Rachael, Zenia and Nicholas are very close.  They love to help each other, especially during puzzles .  Michael and Jakk are good pals.  I was sitting next to them when suddenly Jakk told Michael, “I love you” and gave him a big hug.  Michael smiled back at him and said, “Awww.”

We read It’s Apple Picking Day, so we will be tasting wonderful juicy apples from NY state (in our imagination) right from the orchard.  In our weekly reader magazine we read about raking leaves and jumping into the leaf pile, picking apples and pumpkins.  We leaned about squirrels gathering nuts.  Our squirrels go to south Beach to take a dip.

We are discussing the month of October’s main event, Halloween.  We will talk about Christopher Columbus, but he is not half the fun as ghosts and witches.

We took a survey during Circle Time: What I Want To Be For Halloween.  Here are the wishes.

Daniela - Pumpkin, but a skinny one not fat

  • Colin - Megaton
  • Adrian - Wolverine
  • Nicholas - Ben 10
  • Naomi - Angel
  • Eliza - Hannah Montana
  • Emma - Thumbellina
  • Shawna - Emily, the Princess
  • Camille - Angel

During small group activities we are practicing our ABC’s, learning the letters and their sounds.  We are playing lots of Bingo.  It is fun to recognize numbers that way.

We are reading up a storm.  We are listening to stories and using our story flannel board.  We are tracing shapes, letters and numbers.  We are learning to write our full names, too.

It has been a busy month but it has been fun.

Songs we have been singing:

  • 1, 2, 3, 4 Let's Go To The Door
  • Wash, Wash, Wash Your Hands
  • Wait For Me On the Landing
  • Follow the Leader
  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I Caught A Fish Alive
  • ABC Song

Games we are playing:

  • Obstacle Course
  • Follow the Leader
  • Sticky Bugs

See you next month.

AFTERNOON PROGRAMMING

INFANTS

Summer has passed us by with very hot weather.  The first day of school was very exciting for all of us.  We were happy to see that our infants and parents like the decorations and changes that were made in the  room.   Instead of being in the Activity Area, our infants prefer to roam around the room.  Luke, Lucia and Christopher cruise around holding on to anything they can find to stay standing.  Zoe is crawling and moving around the room.  Zoe and Olivia play in the small Activity Area all the time.

Jacob and Ethan roll around under the aquarium mat.  Bella sits up all by herself and plays with the toys that she can reach near her.

Fall is finally here.  We cannot wait for the cool weather to come.  We really need it because it was very hot this Summer.  We are looking forward to the Halloween Carnival and seeing our infants dress up in their costumes.

Love always,

--Martha

TODDLERS -

Hello October.  Welcome to the Fall season.  We made it through September.  Our month was full of activities.  September was the month of adjustments for the children as well as for the teachers.  We are making lots of progress.

During the month of October we will celebrate Columbus Day and Halloween.  For many of the Toddlers it will be their first time to wear a Halloween costume.  We shall see you at our Carnival.

Have a wonderful month and a safe and Happy Halloween.  See you next month.

Love,

-- Dalia

PRE-SCOOTERS  -

September was a wonderful month, but we will not see it again until next year.  October is finally here.  I know the kids are so excited.  It is Halloween time.  It is time for the kids to choose their costumes.  So get ready to show off your costumes at our Annual Halloween Carnival.  There will be lots of fun-filled activities for you and your families to do.

Our Pre-Scooters have been doing lots of art, flash cards, reading books and singing lots of songs.  Bridget, Morgan and Alissa are all using their words a lot.  They have been calling our names.  Bridget has even given Rosie the nickname “RoRo.”

Yannick and Nicholas run to the slide with a smile on their faces each time we go outside.  Mia is always cooking up snacks in the kitchen area.

Izaac, Declan, Cooper and Brock enjoy art.  They are the first ones at the table when I say, “OK, let's get ready for Art.”  You can always catch Alexander sitting on the floor working on puzzles.  Eli and Eve enjoy playing on the see-saw, singing the see-saw song.  Indeah and Jenna are always up for our daily wagon rides.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

Until next month,

Shante is signing off.

Love ya.

SCOOTERS  -

The Scooters welcome October.  This month we will celebrate Columbus Day and Halloween with our Carnival.  We are so excited to see what our Scooters will be wearing.  In the afternoons, they especially enjoy decorating their free art.  Wagon rides are great fun.  Playing outside makes our day.

EXPLORERS -

Fall has officially begun.  This is the beginning of fallen leaves, big pumpkins as well as fall colors such as yellow, orange and brown.  The children have had a great time learning about the changing season.  They are very excited for this month's Halloween carnival.  They are all ecstatic about dressing up as their favorite characters, such as Spiderman and Disney princesses.  The Explorers have also adapted very well to their new surroundings.  They are becoming very good friends.  I am excited for all the new things the Explorers will discover and learn from each other.

All my love,

-- Patti

BLOOMERS -

As we say good-bye to Summer, we say hello to Fall.  The children have been getting used to the new classroom.  In September we tried to go outside every day for the children to exert their pent up energy after their nap.

The children enthusiastically looked for bugs on the playground.  They even named some of them.  Alexia smiles constantly when she is on the tire swing.  Julian always laughs when he plays in Housekeeping.  Whenever we read a story to the children, Nicholas is the first to add his version to the story.

We are looking forward to the Halloween Carnival and all the wonderful costumes the children will be wearing.

Until next month,

-- Savanna & Pam

FANTASTICS -

Dear Parents,

In the month of September, our Fantastics I & II had the opportunity to put their creativity to work. We read different stories, designed our own homes, thought about what type of food we would like it to rain and even drew about what occupation we would like to have. We also learned to work with our large motor skills, through movement activities and new songs, such as “Rumble Boogie”, “Rabbit Dance” and “The Jungle Walk.”

Now the time has come to say goodbye to the month of September and say our hellos to a new month. For the month of October, our Fantastics are going to become busy pumpkins. They are going to have cooking activities, where they will be creating Pineapple scarecrows and other yummy goodies. We will also be doing lots of fun arts and crafts such as, egg carton bats, making our very own masks, Spider Web Crafts and Eerie Leaf Wreath. We will also have a chance to explore the world of science and math, experimenting with colors and measurements.

Thank you parents for all of your love and support and for giving us the opportunity to be part of your child’s learning experience.

Thank you,

-- Ms. Jennifer & Ms. Jocelyn

FALSE CHOICES

When I broach the topic of choices with parents, they often roll their eyes as if to say, “Yeah, we know about choices.  Let us move on to a new topic.”  They do not realize that they have been failing to use choices positively.

Most of us have been raised with what I call “false choices.”  “You can mow the grass, or be grounded.”  “You can go to sleep now, or never have another sleepover.”  I call these false choices because the parent is presenting one preferred (good) choice, and one negative (bad) choice, with the intent of coercing the child.

Another way in which a parent may give a child a false choice is with words that seem to put the child in charge of situations which he does not actually control.  “Put your pajamas on, okay?”  “Could you please get dressed?”  “Let me finish the dishes and then I will help you.”  “Shall we go shopping now?”  parents do not really want their children to dictate their own bedtimes, decide whether to dress or not, or determine the day's schedule.  False choices give an illusion of control by seeming to place one person in charge of another.

GIVING AGE-APPROPRIATE CHOICES

All children can benefit from being offered two positive choices, but the choices must be age appropriate.  It would be foolish to offer young children unlimited choices.  If you tell your child to pick out one toy in the store, you may be there until closing.  Then, too, your child might pick a toy costing $ 69.95, while you planned on spending about $ 5.00.

Parents must structure choices for children because too many decisions are overwhelming to children.  You must stay in control of yourself and in charge of your children.  In giving your child choices, consider his age, temperament and the specific situation.  The following guidelines will help you provide children with choices:

  1. Offer children under the age of five a choice between two predetermined events or objects. It works like this:
    • Clothing:  “You have a choice:  You may wear the blue shirt or the red shirt.”
    • Food:  “You have a choice between orange juice or milk.”
    • Activities:  “You have a choice:  You may build with blocks or draw.
    • Compliance:  “You have a choice:  You can pick up either your clothes or your toys. Which do you pick?”
  2. Some children need more limited, structured choices than others in order to stay focused and on task.
  3. With children over the age of five, you no longer have to structure their choices with two predetermined options.
  4. As your child gets older, he can also contribute to a discussion about rules, routines and daily schedules.
  5. Anxious or overwhelmed children respond better to assertive commands than to choices.

Next month:  THE STEPS IN DELIVERING TWO POSITIVE CHOICES.

HEALTH ALERT

OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS:  ZICAM NASAL PRODUCTS MAY CAUSE LOSS OF SNESE OF SMELL...(CHILD HEALTH ALERT, September 2009)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to consumer to stop using three Zicam cold remedy product,s which are marketed for use in both adults and children.  The specific Zicam brand products are Cold Remedy Nasal Gel, Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs and Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size.  FDA has received more than 130 reports of consumers losing their sense of smell following the use of these three products.  Many reported others said it happened following multiple doses.  The loss of smell can be long-lasting or even permanent in some people.  Zicam contains zinc as its active ingredient, and the FDA recommends that consumers contact their health care provider if they experience other problems after using any zinc-containing nasal produces.  (FDA Public Health Advisory, June 16, 2009).

TICKLER

BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION.  Over the course of a life time in the Child Care Center, your child may have as many as five birthday's in the Center.  Your child’s birthday and another 120 birthday celebrations.  We recognize your child’s day, but do not make a big celebration out of it.  We like to recognize milestones, but that is a lot of birthdays.  Therefore, we like to keep them simple.  We like to avoid chocolate.  Cup cakes without icing are even better.  Alternative ideas are often interesting:  ice cream cups filled with Jell-O, fresh fruit, a pizza party.  Goodie bags, balloons and piatas are definitely not appropriate for the kind  of recognition we do with the children.  Save those events for home.  Staff will make a special hat for your child, the children will sing Happy Birthday, there might even be a candle.  What is most important is your child will know it is their day.  We also need to remind you there are children who are allergic to peanuts.  Please refrain from bringing anything containing peanuts.

  PHOTO MAKE UP DAY

The make-up date for children who missed our Steckley photo date November 6, 11:00 a.m.  The make up is only if you missed us the first time around.    One additional note:  over the years, we have found the photo shoots are more likely to be successful if parents are not around.  Even then, not every child is going to be happy for their picture.

APPLE ACCREDITATION

Time is approaching for our APPLE Accreditation Verification Visit.  APPLE has call us to inform us that our verifier will be making his visit anytime in the next two months (October & November).  We expect to hear from the verifier in the next few days to determine which week he will be here.

The verifier will be visiting each classroom, reviewing files in the office and reviewing what is commonly known as the BINDER.  The next time you are in the office peek at the two white binders on the corner of the conference table.  That is our binder.  We are looking forward to our visit.

Shortly prior to our verification visit, we will be delivered a Parent Questionnaire to be completed by all our parents.  Please help us with the accreditation process by taking a few minutes to complete the questionnaire.  This can be done in the morning when you drop your child off or in the afternoon.

We will be announcing a MULCH PARTY shortly.  You newer parents to the Center are asking, “What is a Mulch Party?”  That is when we come on a Saturday morning and spread mulch on the playgrounds and sand in the sandbox.  The specific date will be announced next week.

APPLE is one of the two most noted and respected accrediting bodies for Early Childhood Programs in the country.

WE NEED PHOTOS

Every class is in need of a FAMILY PHOTO and an individual photo of each child.  Each class is in a different stage of collecting the pictures.  Please check with your child's  teacher about what you need to bring in to the class.  When do we need these pictures?  YESTERDAY.

The Infant Rooms are particularly in need of:

bibs

blankets

towels

washcloths

crib sheets

We continue to need scrap paper.  Please be sure there is not any sensitive information on the already used side of the paper.  Over the years we have received paper with wire-tap transcriptions, peoples names, social security numbers, dates of birth and credit card information.  We do not censure the paper.  We leave that up to you.

If you have any that your child has outgrown, please send them our direction.

KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY

This is our means of getting to know what our parents do and what services they might be able to provide to other parents.  We want to be clear that we are not necessarily endorsing the company a parent works for, but we are just spreading the word about what that parents can offer.  (The newsletter is becoming a networking tool.  Welcome to the 21st century.)  This months parent is:  Paula Dare (Sidney and JP's Mom).

WEB AND GRAPHIC DESIGN SOLUTIONS

BY PAULA DARE DESIGN

I am an experienced professional who offers a unique blend of original ideas, outstanding design, attention to detail and technical ability — with a personal approach. I provide the acumen and vision to produce exciting and innovative work to propel your business forward. And by work I mean websites, logos, stationery packages, brochures, annual reports etc.

You have a vision for your company. Mine is to make that a reality. To do so, I use the following formula: powerful words + powerful imagery = compelling communication. I don’t have a set style or signature graphic design approach. But I do have a firm belief that the most effective way to work is hand-in-hand with my clients.

My clients see the value of sharing their knowledge with me. They want more than “pretty” design, they want expertise in creating communications that powerfully integrate the right words with the right design solutions. To achieve this, they are willing to share all they know about their product or service. And rather than dictate graphic design solutions, they are willing to work and share ideas.

Over the past 18 years I have done work for many small businesses along with some larger entities that you may know: Miami Art Museum, Knight Foundation, Kadey-Krogen Yachts, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Codman Neurovascular, Baptist Health, Matusalem, Minto and many more.

If you need design assistance or just have a question, please call me at 305.898.6417 or pdare@pauladaredesign.com.
